Doodle Day 1: Anything
(Almost) every day for 30 days I will be drawing a little doodle with a specific subject each time. Today's subject is "anything", and this is what I drew:
"Monolith worms, although fiercely protective of the constructs that spawn them, are actually quite adorable."
Autumn Brings Winter
I just finished making a music video with my friend, Jacob Goins. He's an awesome musician and it was a lot of fun working with him. Here's the result:
You can check out some more of his relaxing music at NoiseTrade.com here.

Cosmos Quest!
Hey guys! Remember Cosmos Quest from a while ago? Well it's finally ready! I've been neglecting the good old Curious Robot for over a month, getting this new comic series ready to share. So head on over to its very own website and check it out! You can read the prologue and the beginning of the first chapter already.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
Cosmos Quest
So, a while ago I posted about a new comic series I'm starting that was called Cosmos Creatures. Well, now it's called Cosmos Quest (for now). I drew a little group shot/promo thing of the main characters and thought you guys would like to see it.
Cosmos Quest will probably get it's own website and I hope to be able to update a few times a week. But for now, you can look at this.

Sign of the Beaver: Character Sketch
In The Sign of the Beaver written by Elizabeth
Speare, a young boy named Matt was left alone in the wilderness to fend for
himself while his father made an important journey. Although his character was
prideful at the beginning of the book - a trait that always made his falls in
self-confidence harder - it soon changed to one of humbleness and contentedness.
At the start of the story, Matt took pride in his survival abilities and the
cabin he helped to build. But when he met a nearby tribe of Indians, he soon discovered
he was not as capable as he thought. When his family finally returned, Matt had
already developed humility and a willingness to learn.
During the
first weeks by himself, Matt took pride in his ability to survive on his own. Although
he realized that "time was going to move slowly" (p. 5), he soon discovered
it was "mighty pleasant living alone" (p. 7). For several weeks, his aplomb
buoyed him through hard work and survival. Hunting and fishing became a regular
task and Matt was confident he could take care of himself and the cabin. But
his confidence quickly turned to humility.
The first
thing that created insecurity was the theft of his father's firearm. Without
the gun, he was unable to hunt. This
left a sense of shame and humility in his head and a moaning emptiness in his
stomach. During an attempted honey collection, Matt's pride was broken along
with his ankle when he fell out of the tree. Matt was forced to humble himself
and accept help from a friendly Indian and his son, Attean. At the start of Attean's
first "school" day, Matt was prideful of and confident in his
teaching skills, but Attean proved to be more than a match to teach. During the
two boys adventures, Attean repeatedly proved to Matt that he was not nearly as
skilled as the Indian boy. On one occasion, Matt tried to show off his fishing
skills, but his catch escaped with Matt's hook, and ego. Attean then smugly
showed the embarrassed white boy how to fish like an Indian. During his awkward
friendship with Attean, Matt's self-confidence slowly morphed into meekness.
Towards the
end of the tale, Matt began to rely on others. He chose to learn from Attean, even
though the older boy looked down on him. When Attean's decrepit dog was caught in a trap, Matt overcame his desire to
prove to Attean that he was better than him and helped the poor mutt. Before
his family returned, Matt's character had matured and his prideful nature had
been replaced with respect for what others had to teach.
Although
Matt's natural tendencies toward pride and arrogance where prominent at the
start of The Sign of the Beaver, he
learned to respect others' advice and wisdom. He was forced to listen to Attean in order to survive, even though the
Indian often embarrassed him. When the Indian tribe invited Matt to go with
them and he declined, his character had been changed and molded into something
much more beautiful. He was able to accept wisdom from others and give respect
where it was due. The change in his
heart from arrogance to humility brought change in his life from constant
embarrassment to genuine contentedness in his life.
Click and Ike
Thought I'd post some of my cartoon strips I did awhile ago. Main characters are Ike, his sister Kate, and his friend (who happens to be a robot), Click.

210 Words - Part 3
I take this time right now to say that this project is definitely not my best writing. It's more about developing a story in a limited amount of words, so the story is very fast passed and choppy only because I have a meager 210 words...

Last time, the mystery of the disappearing diamond thickened when we discovered that the suspicious museum night watch was not actually at the museum the night of the heist. Our story continues.
-----
We find our enigmatic inspector, Pepper Jack, and his
assisting officer, Lem Burgh, arriving at a breakfast diner.
"Remind me why we're here?" asks Lem.
"To grab a bite to eat" Jack replies gruffly. The
duo arrives at the door of the dingy diner, entitled Waffle House. A waitress named
Jessie Jones is unlocking the door and enters before the inspector and officer.
Wearily, the gangly blonde takes their order and serves them. While Lem devours
his food, Jack eyes the waitress with suspicion.
"So, how's life?" Jack casually asks.
"Good," she sighs.
"What'd ya' do last night?" he says without a hint
of suspicion.
"Nothin', really." Jessie says semi-nervously.
"Ya' didn't happen to pick up anything expensive 'round
midnight?" Pepper interrogates. Jessie freezes, "Where's the
diamond?" Jack says menacingly, drawing a small revolver from his trench
coat.
"Please, I don't know whatch'er talkin'
'bout!"
"Don't play dumb, Ms. Jones, I saw you at the crime scene last night."
"I don't know nothin'!"
"Uh... Jack, she's a Waffle House waitress, she's not
involved," suggests Lem.
"Little lady, I'd be more willing to talk if I were in
your situation..." Jack says harshly, pressing her against the wall with
is revolver.
"Fine! Fine! I'll talk! I know who has the diamond."
210 Words - Part 1
In the past, I've tried doing several short story series and haven't exactly finished any of them. So I decided to start another one! But this one's going to be very different. Each installment will have exactly 210 words. Not 200, not 212. I got this idea from a contest put on by Readers Digest that challenged readers to send in a personal, true story containing exactly 100 words. I chose 210 words instead of a 100 to allow myself more breathing room, since I'm a long winded writer. I mean, you've been reading this post for 30 seconds and still haven't gotten to the actual story!
The actual story is going to be in the mystery/suspense genre, taking place somewhere in the 1800-1990 range. So without further ado...

Our story begins in a dark alley way
located in a reputable part of the city. Its 5 o'clock in the morning. A
shadowy figure drifts across the abandoned alley, quickly picks a locked door,
and enters the Museum of Natural Occurrences. Gliding through the corridors, he
makes a detour into the Rare Gems gallery. He finds the display case for a
valuable diamond to be empty, just as he had expected. There are no signs of a
thief to be found, besides the missing diamond. Minutes later, the man sits
with the museum night watch and a police officer.
The night watch is speaking,
"...Just like I said, I left the building at precisely 12:30, got a coffee
and returned at about 1:00. I have witnesses that I was at the cafe! When I
left, the diamond was there. When I returned, it was gone." The upset man
finished.
Now the police officer turns to the
shadowy man in a western-style hat and cloak, "Tell me again, detective,
how did you get into the building just now?"
"The door was unlocked when I
turned the handle," He replies in a gravelly voice.
"One more thing, what is your
name?" asks the officer.
"The name's Jack," he pauses,
"Pepper Jack"
