Writing Wednesday: I am a Dog

Deep in my throat
A growl emerges
I curl my lips
I bare my teeth
I am a dog

I find a squirrel
I chew it up
I vomit it on the porch
To 1-up the cat
I am a dog

At two a.m.
When the invisible monster comes
I bark and bark and bark and bark
To scare it far away
I am a guard dog

D for dangerous
O for opossum - eater there of
G for generous - to my human
This stands for dog (I think)
I am a dog I know

The cat is trying to kill
The human, I know
So I will eat it
Before it gets a chance
I am a protector

I lick you
You don't lick back
I lick you again
You still don't lick back
I am a good friend

I like sticks
I like food
I hate cats
I love you
I am a dog
