The Best Short Movies - An Object at Rest
This animations is by far one of my most favorites. Really. If I had to pick a top 3 favorite short movies, this one would be one of them. It is about a mountain who falls asleep for several eons while the world changes around him. When he awakes, he goes on an adventure, seeing scores of sights even a person would never get to see. But all he wants to do is take a rest and go back to sleep.
Normally movies like this end far too soon, but this one just keeps going in all its glory and cuteness.
"An Object at Rest" was animated by Seth Boyden in a watercolor frame-by-frame animation format. It is great for kids and adults alike, and even people like me who are in between.

The Best Short Movies - Dum Spiro
In this short animated movie, a Roman messenger is forced to carry an important message to the Barbarian/Viking fortress. Unfortunately, in order to get there, he must go through a peaceful forest guarded by a bear. The bear loves gardening and won't allow people into the quite glade. The messenger must do all he can to get to the other side.
"Dum Spiro" was produced by ESMA animation and feels like a Looney Toons cartoon. It even got my parents to chuckle.

The Best Short Movies - One Day
In this melancholy short, a wanderlust man becomes tired of his way of life. Every night, while he's asleep in his cabin, his home mysteriously transports itself to a random location on earth, devoid of humans. This prevents him from ever visiting the same place twice... Until one morning, he finds himself in the middle of a city.
It was produced by GOBELINS in a 2-D animation format. Exceptional quality and wonderful plot. Enjoy!

The Best Short Movies - Derailed
Some of you may have visited my List of Best Short Movies. Well now I'm going to start posting some of those animations on the main blog so you RSS readers can see them as well.
Here is one of my favorites. I love the 2D cartoon animations style, the cute story and the characters. It is about three dogs who go to lunch break in a mine-cart, oblivious to the disaster ahead. You know what, just watch it. Or at least let you kids watch it. They'll love it.
